Howe will have several Christmas events on Saturday

This Saturday, December 11, will be a big day in Howe for the kids of the community and for Santa Claus as he will make three different appearances throughout the day in Bulldogland. The first sighting of the jolly ol’ elf will take place at 8 am as the Howe Fire Department is hosting their annual “Breakfast with Santa.” Typically, the event is held at the fire station, but due to remodeling, they have relocated this year to Summit Gardens at 100 E. O’Connell Street (one block north of downtown). Breakfast is served by donation only.

Later in the day, the Llama Realty Group is hosting a “Merry Grinchmas” downtown from 2 pm to 4 pm where kids and families can have professional photos made with the Grinch. Magical Moments Studio will be handling the photography while hot chocolate with toppings will be served. There is no charge.

The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce will then begin their “Christmas Train” parade beginning at 4:30 from the Howe Middle School. The parade route will travel down Highway 5 from Duke to Davis Streets (it will not travel in front of Independent Financial facing Highway 5), make a trip by First Baptist Church, loop around the fire station and travel through downtown on the way to King Street and back to the middle school. The parade, of course, has no charge to attend. The best locations to see the parade will be in downtown, at the post office, along Highway 5 (between Duke and Davis), and along Haning Street (between Denny and King). Those wishing to be in the parade can still sign up for $5 at https://howe-area-chamber-of-commerce.square.site/

After the parade, Santa will visit with kids at Summit Gardens beginning around 5:30. Hot chocolate will be served at that event also. There is no charge to attend.
