Howe senior running back Tyler Grisham had 75 yards on 17 carries according to Howe High School’s official stats for the regional championship Friday night with Mineola.  This gives Grisham a varsity total of 3,044 yards which moves him past Anthony Hawthorne’s 2,984 total.  With complete stats accounted for from 1980-current, this is the most any Howe player has amassed.  The only other rusher in Howe history that would come close to that amount is Billy Bryant Cloud in his two varsity seasons of 1935 and 1936, but his complete game-by-game rushing stats are not available.

Grisham, a week ago, moved past Nathaneal Falls for rushing and total touchdowns.  Grisham scored his 43rd rushing touchdown Friday night.  Falls recorded 41.

“It’s an honor to be able to hold the record, but there’s no way I could have done it without my boys on the line.” said Grisham in a statement.  “It feels good to know you’ll get at least four to five yards a carry running behind these guys.”
