Saturday’s Howe Founders Day Festival fun for all ages

The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 36th Annual Howe Founders Day Festival on Saturday from 2 pm to 8 pm. The festival’s main sponsor is 903 Brewers who will have three different flavors of their product onsite to purchase. Wall Street Winery will also be there for wine tasting and purchases.

A dunk tank will be located near Don’s Smokehouse which will give those a chance to dunk the current or the former President of the United States. Also, at 4:30 pm, the Howe Chamber will host a Hot Dog Eating Contest where the fastest person to eat 10 hot dogs will win a $50 cash prize and a trophy. Second place and third place will also receive a cash prize. The trackless train will once again run through the former Interurban Alley through downtown from O’Connell to Davis Streets.

Justin Pickard and the Thunderbird Winos will be featured live in downtown from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. Haning Street will be full of vendors with plenty of food, shaved ice, and cold drinks. There is no charge to enter the downtown area.

Tonight kicks off Howe’s Founders Day weekend with the induction of four members of the community to be inducted into the Howe Hall of Honor. The Howe Chamber will also announce the Norma J. Wallace Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Jean Norman Volunteer of the Year, and the Volunteer Organization of the Year. Tickets at the door will be $15. Coffee and cookies served by Keep Howe Beautiful. 6:30 start.
