Brian Ross of Howe spearheaded an upgrade for the ‘Dog Horn that sounds off after touchdowns. Two companies donated materials and labor for the new monster horn that is nearly twice the size and sound of the previous one. It will be at Bulldog Stadium tonight for Howe’s game with Pottsboro. The 8th Grade Class is hosting the annual 8th Grade Bash Dash this Saturday at 8:30 am at Howe Middle School. Proceeds go to the 8th Grade Class. Registration also includes a t-shirt. The 1 mile run / walk begins at 8:30 am and the 5K at 9:00 am. Walk ups are welcome.
The stage is set for a North Texas Classic on Friday night at Bulldog Stadium in Howe where the ‘Dogs haven’t lost since November of 2014. The state’s 10th ranked Howe Bulldogs (4-1) will take on the state’s 9th ranked Pottsboro Cardinals (4-1). Pottsboro has won 28 consecutive district games and five consecutive district titles. The last district game the Cardinals lost was in 2010 to Howe, 20-13 at Bulldog Stadium. The only loss both Howe and Pottsboro have suffered this year came at the hands of the state’s 3A, Div II, 2nd ranked Gunter Tigers.

Howe Head Coach Zack Hudson is 24-16 at Howe in his 4th year (2013-2016). Howe has won 19 of the last 24 games. Those five losses have come to Gunter who is currently ranked first in Class 3A, Division II, West Rusk (12-2 in 2015), Pottsboro (11-1 in 2015 and ranked first in state most of the year), Waskom (16-0 state champions and ranked first in state most of the year), and Leonard in 2014 which was an overtime loss to a team that came in 8-1 and eventually lost to Waskom to end their playoff run.
The Howe vs. Pottsboro series began November 3, 1972 with a 21-0 Bulldogs win at Bulldog Stadium. Since then, Pottsboro now holds a 17-10-1 advantage in the series.

Recently discovered in the vault of the Howe Middle School Principal’s office was an 8mm film that was labeled Howe vs. Allen, Jr. High 7th and 8th, 1975. After sending the film to The Video Station in Waxahachie, the 41-year-old film of games have been brought to life.
