Driveways are still slick, but most city streets and especially US 75 had very little ice from noon through 4:30 pm. However, weather is calling for another round of wintry-mix tonight with a low of 27 degrees. Be extremely cautious Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Howe Police Department reports that northbound US 75 is at a standstill because of ice.
Grayson County Office of Emergency Managements is receiving reports of many accidents and resulting roadway temporary shutdowns and traffic rerouting. They are asking people to please avoid unnecessary travel and be prepared for lengthy delays (particularly on US75 from the southern city limits of Sherman to the southern border of Grayson County in the Van Alstyne area.) They are asking that if you have to go this way, pack some supplies and fuel up first.

Howe PD reports another accident
Yet another accident happened today on the icy US 75. This one happened on northbound US 75 near Shepherd Drive just north of FM 902. Howe officers routed the traffic onto the access road temporarily, but not have US 75 back open as of 12:20 pm.
From Howe PD: Southbound US 75 is now open
Howe Police Chief Carl Hudman says Howe Police Officers were working a single vehicle accident south of the Haning Street exit on US 75 as of 10:23 a.m. Monday, but now the highway is back open as of 10:50 am on Monday. With the steady sleet that is coming down, the roads have become extremely slick and traffic is light.

Howe ISD and City of Howe offices will be closed Monday
Due to inclement weather conditions, children will rejoice because they will not have to go to school tomorrow. The City of Howe offices will be closed on Monday as well as the Howe Community Library.
TxDOT is checking roads across Northeast Texas and some bridges in Grayson County are already icing. They are warning drivers to check the roads before traveling and to drive safely.
