The Howe Community Facilities Development Corporation and city council voted to approve an $18,000 upgrade to replace all of the lighting at Hash and North baseball fields. Due the the energy savings, the investment will pay itself back in three years. Full story in Monday’s Howe Enterprise.

Elysian Fields hands Howe first loss
A team with perhaps the most perfect name for a baseball team, Elysian Fields beat Howe 5-3 to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Howe starter Josh Griffin took the loss for Howe.
With the tie to Pottsboro earlier on Thursday, Howe now rests at 3-1-1 on the early season. Full recaps of all of the games will be seen in this week’s Howe Enterprise on Monday.

Beatlemania to hit Howe in September
The Howe Ex-Student Association’s scholarship benefit concert will move from the 1950’s to the 1960’s. In 2010, the association committee chose Kraig Parker (famous Elvis impersonator) and have now decided to go with Hard Night’s Day (a famous Beatles cover band). The concert is scheduled for Sept. 19 at 7:30 at the Howe High School Cafeterium. Tickets will be $25 and all proceeds will benefit the Howe Ex-Student Scholarship Fund. Howe Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony tickets now on sale
The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the first ever Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony in downtown Howe on April 24, 2015 at 7 pm. The event will take place in the new Chamber/EDC office at 101 E. Haning St.
Howe Hall of Honor inductees are Elmer Schenk, Carrie Waller, Ray Bledsoe, Norma Wallace, L.B. Kirby, Tony Brinkley, Arthur Boyle, Charles R. Thompson, Mame Roberts, A.M. Ferguson, W.P. Thompson and Jabez Haning. These charter members were selected based on their outstanding dedication to the city in their own unique way. Three of the four living members have confirmed their attendance (Elmer Schenk, Carrie Waller and Ray Bledsoe). The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking the family members of all other inductees so that they can be represented.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Independent Bank in Howe or at City Hall in Howe. This Howe historic event is limited to the first 250 attendees and will come with refreshments and a souvenir program. The Howe Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony will officially kickoff the Founders Day Weekend Celebration.
Bulldogs win, move to 3-0 on season
On the same day that Griffin Underwood learned that he was named to the first team all-district 10-3A basketball team, he was the winning pitcher in a 3-2 win over Pilot Point to start district play. Matt Griffin came in to nail down the two-inning save. Full recap in Monday’s Howe Enterprise.

Many have wondered how to get the application to become a charter member for the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce. Well, now those interested are able to fill out the application online. This link will be able to have businesses or individuals sign up immediately.
