KHB to publish part two of Howe cookbook

Howe cookbookIt was decided in this month’s Keep Howe Beautiful board meeting that the group, in order to raise some much needed funds for their non-profit group, would follow up the Howe Historical Cookbook with a part two edition.

The 1991 publication was a product of the Howe Chamber of Commerce and it became a successful fundraiser for the organization at that time. In the beginning, the cookbook was to be more about cooking, but it eventually led to family stories that the chamber felt needed to be included. This new updated edition will feature some of the old recipes from the more known citizens from the older book, but this one will focus on the last 25 years since the original publication of the cookbook.

The beautification group will also wants to have a gardening section and tips for planting flowers that will take in this area on these soils.

The original book was compiled by members of the Howe Chamber of Commerce back in 1990 and was spear-headed by Norma Wallace, Lana Rideout, Carrie Waller and others. The book will not feature as much history due to a national historic book about Howe being created by Dr. Georgia Caraway. KHB hopes to have it available in time for Christmas and for an affordable price in the $20 range.

Those wanting submit recipes can email them to khb@cityofhowe.org or by sending to Keep Howe Beautiful, P.O. Box 250, Howe, TX 75459.
