Howe vs. S&S

The Howe Bulldogs and S&S Rams rivalry dates back to September 22, 1961.  Howe won that initial meeting at Bulldog Stadium, 28-6.  Since then, Howe owns the overall record at 21-10, but have gone 4-4 since 1993.

Howe won 11 straight games between 1983 and 1992 including seven shutouts in a row from 1987-1992.

S&S won five straight from 1962 – 1966.

The last meeting was on November 2, 2007 when S&S beat Howe 28-24 in S&S.

Developer ready to proceed with 600 new homes in Howe

Scott Norris of Tomlin Investments gave a presentation to the Howe City Council about building a community called Wood Creek Estates on the property located on the northeast side of US 75 and Blythe Rd in the southern tip of Howe.  The frontage on US 75 would be planned for commercial property with the plans of up to of 600 new homes on the 500 acre tract over the four year project.  The homes on the low-side would be $185,000 to the high-side of $250,000.

City of Howe talking with Hawaiian Falls and Walmart Neighborhood Market

The City of Howe is in initial talks with two companies that, if brought to Howe, would have a major impact on the city and surrounding areas.  Several City Council Members, Mayor, City Administrator and Economic Development Director along with other city officials met with Hawaiian Falls recently at their property in The Colony.

Also, Walmart is targeting Howe as a possible option for their next small town Neighborhood Market location.  It was recently revealed that Whitewright and Leonard each will soon have their own Neighborhood Walmart.

“It’s a Wonderful Town” Christmas parade in Howe scheduled

Keep Howe Beautiful will be hosting this year’s Christmas parade.  This year’s theme is “It’s a Wonderful Town.”  The parade will be on December 13, 2014 from 5:30 pm – 7 pm.  To register for your free float entry, please contact Laura Duree at 903-818-1076.  The parade will begin at Charles R. Thompson Gymnasium at the middle school and make a trip through downtown and back to the gym.

Once again, scheduled to perform together are Howe, Van Alstyne and Anna marching bands.
