After remarkable upgrades to the athletic facilities over the past three years, the Howe Athletics Department seem to be primary targets of vandalism since the beginning of February. Early in the month, Feb. 6, the auxiliary gymnasium on Denny Street was damaged with wooden vent racks ripped from the walls and slammed to the newly resurfaced floor. Also, trash was dumped and soda was poured on the flooring. The ISD recently spent $80,000 in renovations to the building including the new flooring.
Also, the varsity baseball field had four rye grass seed bags busted and poured in the dugout. The vandals also painted lines on the sidewalks with pink paint and sprayed white paint on the sidewalks and fencing areas.
“We’ve already cleaned it up and we’re not asking help to do that. We just want it to stop.” said Howe ISD Athletic Director Zack Hudson.
