1987 Howe Bulldogs

1987 was a great season with a disappointing ending with Howe losing to Tom Bean for the first time in 46 years. Howe, minus injured linebacker Thomas Troxtell, allowed Tom Bean’s Bryan Hamm to run wild and Tom Bean shocked Howe and kept them out of the playoffs for the first time in three years. The bright spot of the season was that the Bulldogs introduced a slew of sophomores that would go on to be great ones (Jay Skipworth, Steven Hawthorne, and David Cannaday just to mention a few). Lost in the mishap of a disappointing season was Brian Ross and Adam Coffey’s performances. Ross ended his career with 23 TD’s and 6th on the list. Ramiro Quintero set a record with the longest FG in school history at 41 yds. He also set the career record with 60 PAT’s.
