Norman Dickey stepped down as head coach after the 1975 season and the school board hired James “Blackie” Wade to lead the Bulldogs.  Howe improved by three games with the change.  Wade would last four seasons compiling a 16-21-3 record.  He is most known for installing the victory light on the back of the press box.
