4-2-1
Howe hired Alfred Clayton in 1943, and although Howe played respectable by going 4-2-1, they failed to score more than 87 points in the entire season. Howe started slowly in 1944, losing to Van Alstyne 25-0 in the opener. They quickly regrouped, going 5-1-1 that season and the Bulldogs won their seventh district crown in nine years. The Bulldogs had to forfeit the District championship because they had used an ineligible player.
